HBHS Sixth Form

Why choose HBHS Sixth Form?

At Haydon Bridge we are delighted to offer a wide range of courses and offer personalised pathways for each sixth form student. We offer both academic and vocational pathways so that each student is able to choose the most appropriate route through sixth form and ensure that they are fully prepared for Higher Education of the world of work. All subjects are taught by specialists in small groups so that learning is tailored to the needs of the individual.

To support the academic curriculum there is planned careers and pastoral support and a range of enrichment opportunities throughout sixth form. From the initial transition from Year 11 into Sixth Form at Haydon Bridge, students receive personalised information that supports their chosen careers pathway, opportunities for work experience and meaningful engagement with both employers and Higher Education providers.

Facilities

At Haydon Bridge there is a sixth form study area with a suite of computers that are for the exclusive use of our sixth form students. The area is for personal study during study periods and for socialising during break and lunch. The area has a small kitchen for students to use.

We also have a new vocational centre that has 21st century facilities. There is a fully equipped beauty salon for the teaching of hair, beauty, pedicures, manicures and other wellbeing techniques. Next door is a complete professional kitchen to teach catering to our budding chefs and we have an area exclusively designed to teach the full range of construction skills from plastering to bricklaying. For our engineers there is a workshop fully equipped with lathes, a 3D printer and an aluminium oven.
