The Tynedale Virtual College is an exciting and unique solution to the challenge of providing vocational and work-based learning in one of the largest and most remote districts in England covering an area of over 1,000 square miles. Extensive audits have revealed a complete lack of easily accessible FE provision in Tynedale. The DfES assertion that, "young people have access within reasonable travelling distance to high quality learning opportunities across the school, college and work-based training routes" will be achieved through this innovative development. The vision is to establish a multi-campus 'virtual' college based on a collaborative partnership between a wide range of learning providers, both within and from outside of the District.

Haydon Bridge Community High School provides the location for the Health and Social Care aspect of this Virtual College. A dedicated training facility is available, known as 'The Lodge', which provides the resources needed for a large number of courses.
